Fall 1995

Dear professors,

I will remember many things about graduate school - the love of mathematics that kept me going my first lonely year, and the friends I have made across the globe; the pain of ignorance, the trauma of exams, and the frustration of failure; the satisfaction of strenuous labor, the thrill of understanding, and the joy of doing mathematics. Most of all, I will remember the love that has been shown to me here.

I have felt accepted and affirmed by algebraists, analysists, and the applied people alike. Your love for mathematics kindled my own, and the mathematical respect you showed me gave me permission to trust my dreams.

I doubt that it would have been possible for me to have found another university anywhere which has the same combination of high quality mathematics with personal attention and caring which I have received at UNL. It is my fervent prayer that my work will prove to reward you for all that you have invested into my life.

Please accept my heartfelt gratitude to you all.

Best wishes
from a fellow mathematician,
